1300 666 550 1) Can I get UniSurf Broadband? [1a] Can I get Unisurf Broadband on my line? Please note that UniSurf Broadband ADSL needs an existing Telstra PSTN phone line installed. Not all households can receive ADSL. There are many factors that come in to play, these can be based on the type of line installed, the way the line is delivered, which exchange the customer's phone line is connected to or even how far from the exchange the customer may live. If Telstra rejects the order UniSurf will refund all money the customer has paid. [1b] Which region am I in Metro, Regional or Rural?
[2a] What costs are involved? The costs are broken down in to three sections: Set-up Fee: There is a once off set-up fee of $169.00. Monthly Plan Fee: The cost of the monthly plan depends on which region you are located in and what speed connection you wish to have installed. These costs are:
[2b] What hardware do I need? You will need an ADSL modem and you may need telephone line filters. We only support hardware purchased from us. The cost of these products are below, for information on each modem please scroll down.
[2c] What modem do I need? DSL-200: The DSL-200 requires users to have a USB compliant interface. The diagram below shows what this will look like on the back of the user's pc. Windows 98 or later have built in support for USB devices. A software disk is also included with this modem to install correct drivers. This modem is suited for all users. It is D-Link's basic ADSL modem. DSL-300+ & DSL-504: The DSL-300+ & DSL -504 require users to connect to it by Ethernet. This means that the user must have an Ethernet adapter/card installed on the pc. The diagram below shows what an Ethernet card will look like and the connector that plugs into it. The DSL-300+ only has the one Ethernet port on modem so if you currently use your network card on a network you will require an additional card to connect to the modem. Only one user can connect to the modem unless a hub/switch is implemented between the modem and users pc. The DSL-504 has 4 network ports on it, which allows it to act as a router. 4 devices can connect directly to the DSL-504 to access the Internet as well as for internal network access. [2d] What are line filters and how many do I need? ADSL Line Filters: Micro Filters and Central Filters are necessary to block the high frequency signals that originate from a DSL service from interfering with PSTN devices such as telephone handsets, fax machines, answering machines and analog modems. With these you are then able to make phone calls while using the Internet on the same phone line. DSL-10MF Micro Filter: The DSL-10MF is an in-line microfilter designed for use between existing PSTN devices and extension wall sockets. Note that all extensions except the ADSL modem line must have a filter of some kind placed on it. DSL-10MF Central Filter: The DSL-10CF is a Central Filter (or Splitter) and is used on a line or extension where both an ADSL modem as well as a PSTN device is desired. The unit splits the line, providing a pass-through connection with no filtering to the ADSL modem, while providing a filtered connection to the PSTN device. Note that all other extensions still need to have a filter of some kind placed on them. [2e] What operating systems are supported?
